Far Cry - Demo
Download the demo here. This game has stunning graphics and intelegent enemy AI, watch out for the enemies hiding behind rocks, trees or buildings and sneaking up on you. You will play from a first person perspective.
Far Cry Technical Help
You may encounter some difficulties with playing this demo. If your graphics are completly broken even if you are on the lowest settings then you need to:
- Open the system.cfg (systemcfg.lua if you have the demo) file in the far cry directory and open it with notepad.
- Find the line r_Driver = "direct3d9"
- Change it to r_Driver = "openGL"
- Load up the game again and see if the problem has been solved.
Mini Tutorial for the demo level
- Drive a bit closer to the docks and spot as many enemies as you can with the binoculars (default key is 'b') before you go in.
- Drop into the water and swim under the jetty, crouch (default is the control key) and travel towards the other end.
- When you spot the boat swim under it and press action (default 'f') to climb in, drive off quickly as you have now been spotted.
- Use your radar to locate the enemies (green, orange or red dots) and kill them with the gun mounted on the boat.
- Once all are down sneak onto the island and kill any which you missed before.
- Now go towards the main shoreline, if you wish to save climb onto the end of the shore to your right when facing the shore. Spot all the enemies you can with your binoculars and then carefully kill them with your weapon, keep an eye out for them trying to reach the second boat.
- Once you have killed them all go onto the shore, there is amour inside the hut and by the shore, you can also collect weapons off the dead bodies.
- Note the machine gun on your left as you travel up the shore, sneak carefully into the wood, there is a crowd of guards here, you can lead them back to the machine gun before killing them or you can run past up the stairs and into the tunnel above, or a bit of both.
- Once in the tunnel go forward slowly till you see two guards talking above, kill them quickly.
- Carry on past the save point to a door, inside there are 3 more guards, kill them or run past to the lift.
- Come out of the lift, on your left you will see a guard, you can ignore him go up to the fort staying on the right and kill the guard before he spots you.
- Now you must take control of the fort, if you alert the guards to your presence a plane will come and drop off more guards.
- Once you have taken the fort you will have to wait while your asociate opens the doors.
- A boat will come and drop bombs on the area around the machine gun and later a helicopter will come and drop off more guards. The helicopter can be taken down with the machine gun but it is dangerous due to the explosions, my adivce is to stay close to the door and rush in when it opens.
- The door is now open, go in, take the first door on the right, kill the scientist and collect the kit on the right.
- Go to the end of the passage which you entered by and attach the explosive, then run out, you have done it.
