Enemies in Tomb Raider 1

This is a description and screenshot of each enemy. They are, where possible listed in order of appearance.

Bats

These are the first enemies you meet. They are very easy to kill. They first appear in caves and continue to appear until the end of Colosseum.

Wolves

Alone they are not too dangerous but in larger groups they can be deadly. The first appear in caves and continue to appear until the end of Tomb of Quapolec.

Bears

There are three bears in total one in caves and the other two in City of Vilcabama. With patience you can shoot the one in caves from above. The bears in City of Vilcabama can be shot from above if you find the way up.

Raptor

You meet these beasts in the Lost Valley and Tomb of Quapolec. They often appear in pairs. The best way to fight them is to keep out of their reach. If you need to bring them down quickly use the shotgun.

T-Rex

There is one T-Rex in the Lost Valley. He is not as hard to kill as he looks, just keep back-flipping. There are also many places to shoot him from safety.

Larson

At the end of Tomb of Quapolec you will meet Larson. If you shoot him from the opposite side of the water you will not take much damage. He will shoot you in the water. He also appears at the end of Sanctuary of the Scion where he is easy to kill.

Lions

They are quite hard to kill but you can often kill them from safety. They first appear in St Francis Folly and continue to appear until the end of Tomb of Tihocan

Gorillas

They are quite fast and can climb on to low blocks but like to stop and beat their chests a lot. They take quite a long time to kill. They first appear in St Francis Folly and continue to appear until the end of Tomb of Tihocan

Pierre

You first meet Pierre in St Francis Folly but you can't kill him until the end of Tomb of Tihocan. he will keep popping up until your final battle but don't bother using powerful weapons on him because he will not die.

Crocodiles

You meet these beasts in and out of water. In water they are slow and you can climb out and shoot them from land. Out of water they are quite fast and are more likely to do damage. You first meet them in St Francis Folly and continue to meet them until the end of Obelisk of Khamoon.

Rats

You also meet rats in and out of water. In water they will not attack you under the surface. You first see them in Palace Midas and they continue to appear until the end of Tomb of Tihocanon.

Fireball Shooting Centaurs

They shoot fire balls which are easy to avoid with side flips. They explode when they die which can damage you if you are too close. They first appear in Tomb of Tichanon and continue to appear until the end of Atlantis.

Panthers

Are similar to lions but don't stop to roar. They appear in City of Khamoon and Obelisk of Khamoon.

Panther Mummies

These are like panthers just bigger and meaner. They explode when they die in a similar way to Centaurs. When you meet them there is almost always a safe place to shoot them from. They first appear in City of Khamoon and continue to appear until the end of Atlantis.

Fireball shooting Panther Mummies

They are like normal Panther Mummies but shoot fire balls and spit at you. They first appear in Sanctuary of the Scion and continue to appear until the end of the game.

Winged Demons

Their aim is to knock you off dangerous ledges. The best way to avoid them is to duck into a near by doorway because they are too big too fit through. They appear in Sanctuary of the Scion and Atlantis.

Cowboy

He appears in Natla's Mines and is armed with your magnums. Go looking for him when you have your pistols back if you find him before that you better start running. When fighting him be careful not to fall down any Lava Pits.

Skate Board Dude

Also appears in Natla's Mines armed with your Uzis. He is very hard to kill and will probably do you damage. While fighting him be careful not to fall into any Lava Pits. You can also shoot him from the secret area.

Shotgun Guy

Armed with you Shotgun he is the Last enemy in Natla's Mines. He is hard to take down and will probably do you damage. I found side flipping then backfliping then side flipping again was quite a good strategy.

Mirroring Flesh Creature

This enemy copies your every move so try to lure it into a trap. It appears in Atlantis. If, due to a bug, it is not copying you try backflipping up the slope and sliding into the room again.

Legless Alien

This massive beast appears at the beginning of The Great Pyramid. The Shotgun or Uzis are recommended for fighting this beast. Be careful not to side-flip off the platform.

Natla

The last enemy in the game Natla appears at the end of The Great Pyramid. I recommend you use Uzis when fighting her. She throws fire balls at you and can fly. After she falls be careful because she is not as easy to kill as she looks and will get up and run around shooting bolts at you.
